Safe, Gentle Ear Wax Removal

Blockages can cause sudden muffled hearing, ringing, or fullness. Our clinicians safely remove excess wax under direct video visualization.

Professional Cerumen Management

Ear wax (cerumen) is a natural substance that protects the ear canal from debris and infections. However, when it accumulates and hardens, it can cause hearing loss, tinnitus, itching, and even pain. Cotton swabs and home kits often push the wax deeper, packing it against the eardrum and risking injury.

At Halcyon Hearing, our Doctors of Audiology inspect the canal and perform removal using safe, gentle, and dry clinical methods:

Micro-Suction (Dry Removal)

The preferred clinical technique. Using a specialized medical microscope, we inspect the canal and gently suction out the wax without introducing liquid. This is quick, dry, and highly comfortable.

Electronic Warm Irrigation

If the wax is particularly dry and adhered to the canal walls, we use a temperature-controlled electronic irrigator. It utilizes a gentle, swirling stream of body-temperature water to safely flush the wax away.

Symptoms of Wax Blockage

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, a brief 15-minute wax removal appointment can provide instant, life-changing relief:

  • A feeling of fullness or "water in the ear"
  • Muffled, quiet hearing (feels like you are wearing earplugs)
  • Sudden onset of ringing or clicking sounds (tinnitus)
  • Itching, tickling, or mild pain inside the ear canal
  • Feedback or squealing issues with your existing hearing aids
